Job Description
Pinnacles Recreation Company is the authorized concessioner operating the campground and retail store at Pinnacles National Park. The Park is an incredibly beautiful place famous for talus caves, California condors, hiking trails, wildlife viewing and stargazing opportunities. We serve visitors from all over the world. Our main daily goals are to keep the campground in great shape, provide a well-stocked and clean store and to help our campers enjoy their stay as best we can.
Position Description
The General Manager is responsible for the day to day operations of the campground and retail store at Pinnacles National Park. The role is focused on maintaining high standards of operation, customer satisfaction and employee morale while maintaining a positive and cohesive relationship with key stakeholders including the National Park Service. Strong interpersonal, customer service and people management skills are required and experience in hospitality or outdoor recreation is preferred.
  • Hire and train staff suitable for the operation. Lead daily and weekly meetings.
  • Delegate to, evaluate and coach all staff on a regular basis.
  • Ensure the campground and store operation is always running smoothly, adjusting as necessary.
  • Ensure daily cleaning of bathrooms and campsites is completed properly.
  • Oversee check-in and checkouts and manage bookings using software.
  • Maintain a training and HR program that is compliant with all labor laws and contractual requirements.
  • Monitor inventory of the retail store and reorder items as necessary.
  • Ensure staff keep bathrooms, showers and all campground areas are clean and tidy.
  • Implement an ongoing maintenance plan for all NPS assets and company equipment. 
  • Coordinate with suppliers, contractors and others to complete maintenance projects.
  • Work the retail store and maintenance shifts as necessary.
  • Schedule staff to ensure full coverage.
  • Work closely with NPS rangers and administrative staff.
  • Respond appropriately to customer complaints and find solutions as necessary.
  • Assist top management with creating website content and other creative projects from time to time.
  • Other duties as necessary.
$20-25 per hour depending on experience. Paid vacation and sick days provided on job offer.
Pinnacles National Park is a semi-remote location, approximately 30 minutes’ drive from Hollister, CA and King City, CA. Both cities have plenty of housing available. The campground is at the East entrance to the Park on highway 25, the full address is 2400 Highway 146, Paicines, CA, 95043.
