In June 2016, following an extensive public participation process, the City Council adopted a by-district system of electing members of the City Council.  Since the 2020 Census data is now available, the City is required to review and update its districts to ensure they continue to comply with State requirements.  The process will define neighborhoods and communities of interest to ensure they are not divided by district, consider future growth projections, and design the districts so they contain no more than a 10% difference in people from the largest to the smallest.
The City of King invites all residents to a special public workshop in the City Council Chambers on Saturday, October 16th at 11:00 a.m. to participate in forming the City Council electoral districts for the next 10 year period.  The City needs your input to help make sure municipal elections are structured in the most fair and representative manner.  You can participate in person or virtually by Zoom at  After October 9th, you may also access interactive maps on the City’s website at to review relative data and find out where you live in draft district map alternatives.
